SeaSeaS has been awarded a TSE (Topsector Energy) grant for its project to develop an open-access CO₂ terminal in the Port of Amsterdam. The TSE subsidy enables the project to be accelerated towards an investment decision, representing an important step from policy ambition to concrete realisation.
The open-access terminal will handle and store liquefied CO₂ in the Port of Amsterdam. It will be accessible via truck, rail and inland shipping, and will connect Amsterdam via seagoing vessels to all relevant offshore European CO₂ storage sites.
We thank RVO (Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland) for the award and their guidance, as well as Ventivv, NZKG (Noordzeekanaalgebied) and the Port of Amsterdam for their close cooperation and continued support of the project. The project is carried out with Topsector Energy Subsidy from the Ministry of Climate and Green Growth, reflecting the Ministry’s support and confidence in the role the SeaSeaS project can play in the Dutch and European CCS value chain.
The project contributes directly to the Dutch Climate Agreement and the national ambition to enable large-scale CO₂ storage as a prerequisite for industrial decarbonisation and long-term competitiveness. It focuses on aggregating CO₂ streams from multiple industrial emitters in Amsterdam and the European hinterland that require timely and cost-effective access to CO₂ transport and storage.
As an open-access infrastructure, SeaSeaS lowers the threshold for both large and mid-sized emitters, without reliance on a single customer, storage site or transport route.
Scalable. Flexible. Future-proof.
Timely access to CO₂ infrastructure is critical for industrial decarbonisation, and SeaSeaS ensures that infrastructure is in place when it is needed.
